Welcome
Welcome to the web site for James Doherty - one of the UK's most exciting and promising talents in the world of Karting.
In 2006 - his first year at national championship level; James came 5th overall in Minimax followed by 15th in 2007 in Junior Max despite suffering a broken wrist mid-season and only finishing 3 out of 6 finals. In both 2006 and 2007 James represented England helping them to win back and then retain the coveted Internations trophy as well as picking up the Buckmore Part Club Championship and being voted 'most promising Junior Driver.'
At the end of 2007 James moved to Protrain - one of the UK's leading teams in late 2007 to challenge for the UK Championship. Despite a fantastic start to his Protrain career with a 3rd and 1st and topping the list of fastest times in practice, James suffered a series of technical problems and finished the season a hugely disappointing 17th - again effectively only finishing 3 out of 6 finals; a case of what might have been.
Towards the end of the 2008 season James started to move into the Senior Rotax class and took part in the final round of the European Championships in Genk Belgium where again at a track he'd never been to before, topped the fastest practice times outgunning European and World Champions. In his first Senior race in the UK at a track he'd never raced at, James stormed through the field to finish 5th (out of 34) thereby again proving his talent/ability.
With a demanding year off the track in the classroom, James is determined to use his experience to gain a top 10 finish in his first year at Senior level so please follow his progress via this site.
